Options running out for 37,000 refugees in South Sudan’s Jamam camp, Oxfam warns

Tens of thousands of Sudanese refugees face desperate, life-threatening water shortages and a growing threat of fatal disease in Jamam camp in South Sudan and must be urgently moved to a new site, international agency Oxfam said today. As conflict spreads along the border between Sudan and South Sudan, there are fears more refugees could arrive in a camp already stretched beyond its limits and unable to cope with further influx.

Military action against LRA rebels risks new wave of retaliations, charities warn

Renewed military action against the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) risks triggering further devastation for local people in Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, and South Sudan unless more is done to protect civilians and prevent retaliations by one of Africa’s most brutal rebel groups, local and international organisations warned today.
